Noam Shpancer – The Good Psychologist

David speaks with psychologist turned author Noam Shpancer. His first novel, which has been receiving widespread rave reviews, is called The Good Psychologist. Aside from writing his novel, Shpancer is a professor of psychology at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio and is a practicing clinician in Columbus, Ohio specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders.

James Bamford – Shadow Factory

David speaks with journalist James Bamford about his book Shadow Factory. Bamford has spent decades covering and investigating the National Security Agency (aka the NSA) – the largest but least known of America’s intelligence branches. This book, his third about the agency, deals specifically with NSA’s transformation following the September 11th attacks and its troubling, if not illegal, domestic wire-tapping activities.

Mary Tillman – The Tillman Story

A new documentary film premiered this past week called The Tillman Story about the death and military cover-up of Pat Tillman who left a successful career as an NFL star to volunteer for the army after 9-11. For today’s Conversations with David Lewis, David speaks with Mary Tillman, Pat Tillman’s mother, and one of the principal subjects of the film. She also has written a book about her family’s experience titled, Boots on the Ground By Dusk.

George Grayson – Mexico

With the recent prominent arrests of two of Mexico’s most wanted drug kingpins – Ignacio “Nacho” Coronel and a rival known as “La Barbie” – it’s time to return to for an update on Mexico’s still escalating drug war with professor George Grayson of William & Mary’s and an expert on narco-violence in Mexico. Since their last conversation some 6 months ago, the situation along the border has only deteriorated further with the numbers of reported deaths from violence surpassing either of Iraq or Afghanistan. Professor Grayson’s new book is called, Mexico: Narco-Violence and a Failed State.
