In the past, she has written about subjects as diverse as Frank Sinatra, the British Royals, Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Onassis etc. But most recently, she has penned what may in fact be her most controversial work, or at least most unwelcome, a biography of Oprah Winfrey.

Cornel West

David speaks today with Cornel West the inimitable scion of popular culture and authoritative commentator on the African American experience. Now a professor at Princeton, West’s is best known in academia for Race Matters and Democracy Matters. But his work extends well beyond the Ivy walls and includes hip hop collaborations, film roles, and a constant stream of appearances on television. Mary Tillman – The Tillman Story

A new documentary film premiered this past week called The Tillman Story about the death and military cover-up of Pat Tillman who left a successful career as an NFL star to volunteer for the army after 9-11. For today’s Conversations with David Lewis, David speaks with Mary Tillman, Pat Tillman’s mother, and one of the principal subjects of the film. She also has written a book about her family’s experience titled, Boots on the Ground By Dusk.

Ryan Gravel – Atlanta Beltline

Ryan Gravel is the man credited with first coming-up with the idea for Atlanta’s Beltline project. He actually first conceived of the idea for his master’s thesis at GA Tech but it would later be championed by a wide range of government, community, and business groups.
