In this work Brooks, a former New York Times columnist, creates a fictional narrative around the true life drama of a mysterious missing Hebrew Haggadah pilfered from Sarajevo. The Haggadah is the prayer book used by Jews on Passover to tell the story of the Israelites exodus from Egypt.
