Peter Bergen – Manhunt

David chats with Peter Bergen about Bergen’s latest book Manhunt: The Ten-Year Search For Bin Laden From 9/11 To Abbottabad. In 1997, Bergen was the first Western journalist to interview Osama Bin Laden for CNN and gave Bin Laden his first opportunity to declare war against the United States directly to a Western audience. Since then, Bergen has become perhaps the most knowledgeable and trusted source on al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden. It seems only appropriate that in 2011, shortly after the Navy Seal raid that lead to the death of Bin Laden, Bergen would be the only American journalist allowed into the Bin Laden compound. Bergen shares his experience reconstructing the scene shortly before the compound’s destruction and the circumstances that lead to the demise of the al-Qaeda leader.
