Bill Bolling – Atlanta Community Food Bank
David is joined by Bill Bolling, the founder of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Since its modest and somewhat naive beginnings in 1979, it has gone on to serve over 45 million pounds of food and groceries each year and distribute it to more than 600 nonprofit partner agencies serving families and individuals in 29 metro Atlanta and north Georgia counties.

David is joined by Russian-American journalist Masha Gessen about Russia and its persecution of the LGBT community which came to a boiling point in 2012 with the artist collective Pussy Riot. As a mother and a member of the LGBT community, Gessen made the decision to leave Russia after the country’s government outlawed anything they consider “gay propaganda” and also began cracking down on LGBT parents.
David chats with thriller novelist and former journalist John Katzenbach about his latest work Red 1-2-3. Three of his novels have been made into feature films: In the Heat of the Summer (adapted for the screen as The Mean Season), Hart’s War starring Bruce Willis, and Just Cause starring Sean Connery. His other books include The New York Times bestseller The Traveler; Day of Reckoning and The Shadow Man. Katzenbach was a criminal court reporter for The Miami Herald and Miami News and a featured writer for the Herald’s Tropic magazine.
David is joined by author Mark Halperin and John Heilemann to talk about their latest book Double Down: Game Change 2012. This book is a comprehensive and unbiased account of the 2012 Presidential election and tells the tales that each side perhaps did not want to be told. This book serves as a bit of a sequel to their book Game Change which chronicled the 2008 election in much the same way.
Jazz critic/author Stanley Crouch returns to chat with David about his new book Kansas City Lightning: The Life and Times of Young Charlie Parker. This book traces the origins of the legendary jazz saxophonist and how he went from a young man in Kansas City to Baltimore and Chicago and finally to New York City where he finally became the jazz legend we know today.
David is joined by authors Cathy Scott-Clark and Adrian Levy to chat about their new book The Siege: 68 Hours Inside the Taj Hotel. This book chronicles the events of November 26-28 2008 when 10 Pakistani men under the guidance of Lashkar-e-Taiba took control of the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, India. In this attack, thirty-three were killed and many more were injured as this terrorist organization seized the five-star hotel.
David is joined by author Cameron Stauth to chat about his new book In The Name Of God. This book exposes the dark world of faith-healing throughout the country and the laws and loopholes that keep this completely legal. While this is indeed a touchy subject, Stauth is careful to point out that this book of religion but instead a book on the legality and the difference between religious freedom and crime.
David chats with journalist Thomas Ricks about his new book The Generals: American Military Command from World War II to Today. This book examines the role of the General in the armed forces and how they react and adapt during war. While this book speaks of some of the greats like George Marshall, it also shows some of those who have failed at their job like the often lauded General Patton.
Frequent guest Jeff Greenfield joins David to talk about his latest book If Kennedy Lived: The First and Second Terms of President John F. Kennedy – An Alternate History. This book looks at how different the world might be had things worked slightly different and JFK had lived and been able to deal with issues like Vietnam and the entirety of the Civil Rights movement.
