David chats with former Harvard President Neil Rudenstine in to chat about his new book The House of Barnes: The Man, The Collection, The Controversy. This book covers the extraordinary and eccentric Albert Barnes. Often lauded as the most successful art collector in history, Barnes’ collection was panned by critics in the early-20th Century for including artists like Van Gogh, Cezanne, and Picasso before they contemporary art at the time was understood and respected.

As the debate over gun-control heats up, David chats with Dan Baum about his book Gun Guys: A Road Trip. A supporter of gun rights, Baum is a bit of a rarity not because of his views but because he is a liberal Democrat. Rather than making standard party-line arguments, this book points the finger at both parties showing their shortcoming when coming to handling gun control arguments.
David is joined by Dave Moody, founder of C.D. Moody Construction, to talk about his experiences dealing with sexual abuse. Among Moody’s many accomplishments, he has worked on designs for Turner Field, the World of Coke, and the new Falcons stadium. However, he held a secret throughout his successful career. At age 10 Moody was sexually abused by a male babysitter, a secret he kept from anyone until 1992 when he told his wife. Since then, he has slowly learned to share his story and help others in the same situation realize that even throughout this horrible experience he has been able to become successful.
David is joined by Dan Drollette Jr to chat about his new book Gold Rush in the Jungle. This book, centered in Vietnam, examines many of the former war zones that due to their abandonment have become nature habitats. This are of the world, often referred to as “the lost world” has led to the discovery of never seen mammals including a half-goat/half-ox, a deer that barks, and a close relative of the nearly extinct Javan rhino.ece for the New York Times announcing that his views have changed and that he is now in favor of gay marriage.
David speaks with entrepreneur and technologist Sanjay Parekh about Atlanta’s emerging technological startup scene. Parekh’s career as an startup success started in 1999 when he founded the geolocation service Digital Enjoy while still a student at Georgia Tech. Since selling Digital Envoy in 2007, Parekh has dedicated his work to mentoring and guiding startup hopefuls on their journey. In this conversation, Sanjay chats about the challenges of becoming a technological entrepreneur in Atlanta and what can be done to help make the process easier.
David chats with Rabbi Joshua Lesser of Congregation Bet Haverim about the Supreme Court’s recent decision on the Defense of Marriage Act and its consequences on the future of gay marriage. Aside from his work at Congregation Bet Haverim, Lesser has also served on the boards of PFLAG, the Anti-Defamation League, and Hillels of Georgia and for the past three years has taught rabbinical students how to create welcoming communities for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Jews.

David chats with former baseball player turned author Larry Colton about his new book Southern League: A True Story of Baseball, Civil Rights, and the Deep South’s Most Compelling Pennant Race. Although Major League Baseball integrated in the late 1940s, minor league (Southern League) baseball remained segregated until 1962. This book tells the story of the Birmingham Barons 1964 season and how the Black players were greeted during their first integrated year.
David talks to Kelly Callahan, the Assistant Director of Program Support for the Carter Center Health Programs, talks about her work with the Carter Center in eradicating Guinea Worm Disease. Though the disease is largely unknown to most people, it affected more than 2.5 million people a year at its peak. Now, mostly thanks to the efforts of the Carter Center, there were less than 550 cases reported worldwide.
